I came across a question in Yahoo Answers of a person who does business in various European countries, but spends 2 weeks a month in the NE United States. He noted a very expensive AT&T bill, and wanted to know if there was a way to fix this.
He has an iPhone, but not opposed to carrying two phones. He would like to have one phone number, but if he has too, I am sure he would accept more. So, to try to be the good Samaritan I am, I figured I will make this tip (very long one), and hopefully it will be of value.

In these trying economic times, there is a desire to save money where possible. With the cell phone companies still charging you 35¢ per minute for overages, this might actually be of help if you’re on a tight budget. Keep in mind, if you are not home often, or if find using your cell phone more so because you are out – this might not be of best interest to you. If you have family, friends, or loved ones in other countries, than you know how expensive a call can be. In addition, even if you have a calling plan that would reach to that country, you are more likely paying more for that plan. Here is a way that would help.
First, keep in mind, that while there is very functional, it is not completely flawless. For example, calling from the US may not always show the proper CID information. A QR code can contain a number just like a barcode, and a bit more. Email addresses, and web sites can also be in QR codes. All of the web pages here have a QR code that points to the respective page. In addition, a QR code can contain contact information, or even send SMS messages.

And while I personally don’t have one, nor do I see a purpose for one for myself, there maybe some needs for this. Here are some things that you would want to consider before spending between $500 and $830.
First, you should know the limitations. The iPad is about the size of US standard sheet of paper (about 8.5” x 11”), and weighs 1.5lbs. While this may not seem heavy, Apple been touting this as your ebook reader, game machine, and video player – much of the time, you would be holding it. After a while, that weight can get to you.
