New Phone, New cards

In late July, I created a small set of business cards to provide if I should come across people that would want to reach me. However, unless something goes terribly wrong within the 2 week period I could return my new phone, I would be in need to change these cards, and therefore destroy the old cards (stock of 10). Much of my information is the same, although I do have some desire to make a couple of adjustments. However, a couple of things that needs to be changed are as described below.

First, there is a note on the back of the card about private numbers going straight to voice mail. So far, I have yet to find a competent call manager, or even a program that would send blocked numbers directly to voice mail on Android OS. I am going to do the next best thing, and that would be to force people to disclose who they are when they call. I am not sure how effective this is, but it is a feature integrated into Google Voice.

The next thing that needs to be changed is the RIM PIN ID. As with all not RIM devices, there is no PIN. Since I no longer have a Blackberry, I don’t have one. This would definitely need to be changed.

I  will also be cutting the number of addresses shown. One of the things I would do is have a line where I would write an address based on the address of the person that would write to me. There would be one public address which would show, but otherwise – that would be it.

As for dealing with other people, when I call people now, my Google Voice number shows up. Why is this such a big deal? Well, if people called the cell phone directly, then the Google Voice Anti-SPAM, and block CID feature can’t work. So, I never wanted people to have my cell phone for that reason. Since the Google Voice App can take over the default dialer, and therefore show my Google Voice number, this means that people would see it is me that is calling.
